Day Two - Home to Bingara
We set out around 10 am, meandering over the mountains to Kyogle, descending through Tenterfield, ascending to Glen Innes, then onward to Inverell, Delungra, and finally reaching our night’s destination in Bingara.
An extended playtime ensued in Tabulam as we awaited lunch from CK catering. Uncertain why, but preparing one freshly made chicken and salad sandwich, along with four meat pies requiring some heating, took an hour.
Meanwhile, the children enjoyed a prolonged session of play in the playground as they waited for Grandma’s return.
Continuing our journey, we traversed the last few ranges and arrived in Bingara around 4 PM. As the sun dipped behind the ranges, the clouds amassed, and the temperature dropped sharply, reaching a chilly 5 degrees overnight, accompanied by light rain come morning.
Inside, a delightful warm chicken and vegetable meal, complemented by the wood stove’s roaring fire and the wood burner in the lounge, ensured a cozy evening with the children and relatives.
The house, with its eclectic charm, became a wondrous adventure playground for the children. Guitars, vintage typewriters, crystals, gems, books, and marionettes were among the treasures that captivated them.
Come bedtime, the children nestled into their sleeping bags before the fire to stay warm. It was evidently effective, as they slept soundly, not stirring once during the night.
